No Ban, No Wall, No On Nominees

Recently President Trump signed EXECUTIVE ORDER: PROTECTING THE NATION FROM FOREIGN TERRORIST ENTRY INTO THE UNITED STATES, which prevents many immigrants and refugees, some who have served the American military, from entering the country and returns them to dangerous locations abroad. Congress has said they are going to begin taking action to build an expensive and ineffective wall along our southern border. Senator Jeff Sessions, who has decades of on the record racist remarks and has contributed to the manufactured fear of immigrants and refugees, is nominated as our Attorney General. It’s time for this hate to end, and you can help by taking five minutes to #ContactCongress.

STEP TWO:
Use the phone script or form email below to contact your officials. Feel free to modify the message as you see fit. As a tip a PHONE CALL IS MORE LIKELY TO GET YOUR VOICE HEARD AND COUNTED THAN AN EMAIL, but an email is better than nothing!

PHONE CALL SCRIPT:

Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I’m calling the office of [NAME OF REPRESENTATIVE OR SENATOR] because I am a constituent. I live at [ADDRESS, CITY, and STATE] and my phone number is [PHONE NUMBER].

I’m calling to ask the [REPRESENTATIVE OR SENATOR] to speak out and fight against President Trump’s EXECUTIVE ORDER: PROTECTING THE NATION FROM FOREIGN TERRORIST ENTRY INTO THE UNITED STATES. This order is an abhorrent ban that unfairly targets Muslim immigrants and refugees. It’s unconstitutional and flies in the face of religious freedom guaranteed by our First Amendment. I am ashamed of our president when I see people in need, some who have served alongside the United States military, being held at our airports and threatened with return to places that could do them harm. The United States already has an extremely vigorous process in place for vetting immigrants and refugees. Please do everything you can to lift this executive order, including passing legislation that would put an end to this travesty.

I’m also calling to ask the [REPRESENTATIVE OR SENATOR] to vote against any legislation that would bring about the construction of President Trump’s expensive wall on the southern border of the United States. The price tag of its construction and maintenance is in the tens of billions of dollars. It seems this economic burden will be passed on to taxpayers. The wall’s effectiveness is in question, since many analysts agree that a majority of illegal immigrants enter the United States by air. Illegal immigration is not even on the rise in the United States. We need immigration reform, not walls and bans.

[IF CALLING A SENATOR, ADD:]

Finally, I’d like to ask the senator to vote against the nomination of Senator Jeff Sessions for Attorney General. Senator Sessions has decades of racist remarks on the record, many of which manufactured a fear of immigrants and refugees in the United States. He is unfit for this office. I also find Rex Tillerson, Scot Pruitt, Betsy DeVos, Rick Perry, Tom Price, Ben Carson, and Andy Pudzer to be unfit for their nominated offices, so please vote and speak out against them as well.

Please raise your voice on this issue and any others like it that arise.

You will be hearing from me on more issues in the future. Thank you for your time.
