Save the EPA

Recently, Representative Matt Gaetz introduced H.R. 861, a bill that will terminate the Environmental Protection Agency and leave regulation to the states. This extreme measure is dangerous for the entire planet, which is already facing numerous challenges due to climate change. Our planet needs federal protection. Take action now and #ContactCongress to make sure this bill is never passed.

Use the phone script or form email below to contact your officials. Feel free to modify the message as you see fit. As a tip a PHONE CALL IS MORE LIKELY TO GET YOUR VOICE HEARD AND COUNTED THAN AN EMAIL, but an email is better than nothing!

PHONE CALL SCRIPT:

Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I’m calling the office of [NAME OF REPRESENTATIVE OR SENATOR] because I am a constituent. I live at [ADDRESS, CITY, and STATE] and my phone number is [PHONE NUMBER].

I’m calling to ask the [REPRESENTATIVE OR SENATOR] to vote against H.R. 861 should this bill make it to the floor for a vote. This extreme measure would eliminate the Environmental Protection Agency. Our planet needs the federal government’s protection and regulation. For too long have the interests of business been prioritized above those of our environment. We have already paid the price for this greed in rising sea levels, acidic oceans, wildlife loss, and extreme weather events, not to mention the rising costs of fossil fuel. We need the EPA and cannot leave regulation to the states. Our planet is at stake.

[IF CALLING A SENATOR ADD:]

I’d like to ask the senator to vote against President Trump’s nomination of Scott Pruitt for EPA Administrator. The Oklahoma attorney general has no interest in protecting the environment. In his current post he has fought tooth and nail with the EPA to prevent it from accomplishing its mission to protect our environment. He does not believe in human-caused climate change, which an overwhelming majority of leading scientific experts agree is real. His pro-fossil fuel policies will be a threat to the United States and the entire world.

Please raise your voice on this issue and any others like it that arise.

You will be hearing from me on more issues in the future. Thank you for your time.
